Built for industrial applications, the Square D MJA36350 is a 3-pole, 350A MCCB from the PowerPacT M-Frame family. It features an I-Line connection for integration into Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards. This model serves as a drop-in substitute for discontinued MA and MH frame breakers. Equipped with an ET 1.0 electronic trip unit, it provides long-time and instantaneous (LI) protection. It is rated 65kAIC at 480VAC and features current-limiting capabilities.
Can I install the MJA36350 in a standard QO or NQ panelboard?
No. The MJA36350 features an I-Line plug-on connection and is exclusively designed for use in Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards. It will not fit standard residential or commercial QO, NQ, or NF panels.
Is the MJA36350 a direct replacement for older MA or MH frame circuit breakers?
Yes. The PowerPacT M-frame MJA36350 serves as a drop-in substitute for discontinued 350A MA and MH frame I-Line circuit breakers, maintaining compatibility with your existing I-Line panelboard bus system.
Is there a lower interrupting capacity version of this 350A breaker?
Yes. If your application requires a lower interrupting rating, the MGA36350 offers a 35kAIC rating at 480VAC, compared to the 65kAIC rating of the MJA36350.
What replacement mechanical lug kit fits the MJA36350?
The standard replacement mechanical lug kit for this breaker is part number AL800M23K. This kit accepts three 3/0 AWG to 500 kcmil aluminum or copper wires per phase on the load side.
What does the "LI" trip function code mean on the ET 1.0 trip unit?
The LI designation indicates that the ET 1.0 electronic trip unit provides Long-Time (overload) and Instantaneous (short-circuit) protection. It does not include Short-Time (S) or Ground Fault (G) options.
Is the electronic trip unit on the MJA36350 adjustable?
Yes, partially. While the long-time overload trip point is fixed at 350 amps, the instantaneous magnetic trip point is adjustable from 700A to 3500A (2 to 10 times the continuous current rating).
How does the I-Line mounting system attach to the panelboard?
The I-Line mounting system utilizes a heavy-duty plug-on line connection that pushes directly onto the panelboard's stepped busbar assembly. A captive retaining bracket is then tightened to secure the breaker in place, eliminating the need for line-side cabling.
Does the MJA36350 include a mechanism for testing the trip unit manually?
Yes. The breaker features a built-in push-to-trip button on the faceplate. This allows you to manually exercise the mechanical tripping linkage to ensure it operates freely during routine maintenance.
