Square D NC361200 Molded Case Circuit Breaker

It is designed exclusively for Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards. Because it is a 1200A N-frame breaker, the enclosure must be specifically rated to accept N-frame dimensions and provide 15 inches of continuous I-Line mounting space.

The legacy N-frame series is obsolete. For new installations or direct replacements, Square D recommends the modern PowerPacT P-frame series, such as the PLA34120U31A. P-frame I-Line breakers also utilize 15 inches of mounting space for a straightforward retrofit.

In Square D's legacy nomenclature, the C designates this as a high interrupting capacity breaker. It delivers a 100kAIC rating at 480VAC, which is significantly higher than the standard interrupting tiers for this frame size.

The factory mechanical lugs accommodate four 3/0 AWG to 500 kcmil aluminum or copper (Al/Cu) conductors per phase. Ensure your enclosure has adequate wire bending space for four 500 kcmil cables per pole.

It uses a traditional thermal-magnetic trip mechanism with an LI profile. The long-time thermal overload protection is fixed at 1200A, while the instantaneous magnetic short-circuit trip is adjustable to coordinate with downstream devices.

The breaker features plug-on jaws that engage directly with the I-Line bus stack. Despite its large 1200A capacity, this plug-in design eliminates the need for bolted bus connections on the line side, significantly reducing installation time.
