Product FAQs
7 answers
What does the "L" stand for in the PLL34100 catalog number?
The first "L" indicates the interrupting rating, which provides 100kA at 480VAC. The second "L" indicates the termination type, meaning it comes factory-installed with lugs on both the line and load ends.
What is the recommended tightening torque for the lugs on the PLL34100?
The standard lugs for the four 3/0 AWG to 500 kcmil conductors require a tightening torque of 442.5 lb-in (50 Nm). Always verify with the manufacturer label on the breaker prior to installation.
What type of equipment is the PLL34100 compatible with?
This PowerPacT P-frame unit mount circuit breaker is designed for use in Square D switchboards, motor control centers, and individual enclosures. It is not designed for I-Line panelboards, which require an I-Line specific termination.
What is the difference between a PGL34100 and a PLL34100?
The difference is the interrupting rating. The PGL has a "G" rating for 65kA at 480VAC, while the PLL has an "L" rating for 100kA at 480VAC. Both share the same physical P-frame footprint and 1000A capacity.
How many conductors can the standard lugs on the PLL34100 accept?
The factory-installed lugs on this 1000A breaker accept up to four conductors per phase, ranging from 3/0 AWG to 500 kcmil for either aluminum or copper wire.
What type of trip unit is included with the PLL34100?
It includes a basic electronic trip unit featuring Long-Time and Instantaneous protection functions. The thermal protection is fixed, while the magnetic instantaneous trip is adjustable.
What safety standards does the PLL34100 meet?
This PowerPacT P-frame circuit breaker is dual rated to UL 489 and IEC 60947-2 standards, and is also CSA certified for use in commercial and industrial electrical systems.
