6 answersWhat is the modern replacement for the obsolete Q1B330 breaker?
The direct replacement is a 30-amp, 3-pole QOB circuit breaker. Because the Q1B series is obsolete, installing a newer QOB breaker into a legacy NQOB panelboard requires an SK5668 mounting assembly to adapt the bus connections.
How does the SK5668 mounting kit work when upgrading from a Q1B330?
The SK5668 horizontal bus bar kit provides the A, B, and C phase connectors and screws needed to mount a modern QOB breaker in an older NQOB interior. In a 225A panel, this kit adds enough mounting space for up to six poles.
Will the Q1B330 bolt directly into an NQOB panelboard?
Yes. If you are installing an original Q1B330, it bolts directly to the bus of legacy Square D NQO and NQOB panelboards without requiring any retrofit adapters or conversion kits.
Can the Q1B330 be installed in a 480V panel?
No. The Q1B frame is rated for a maximum of 240VAC. Applying this breaker in a 480V or 277/480V system exceeds its interrupting capacity and creates a significant safety hazard.
Are the thermal and magnetic trip elements adjustable on this breaker?
No. The Q1B330 utilizes a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit. The long-time delay for overloads and the instantaneous pickup for short circuits are factory calibrated and cannot be modified.
What wire sizes are compatible with the Q1B330 box lugs?
The terminals accept copper or aluminum wire from 14 AWG to 8 AWG. Installers must ensure the selected conductor is properly rated for a 30-amp load according to NEC guidelines.

Expedited Shipments
