Rated at 22 kAIC, this 20A branch/feeder AFCI breaker provides robust protection for 120V circuits. The Square D QO120VHAFI utilizes a thermal-magnetic trip unit to detect both overcurrents and dangerous arc faults. It installs into standard QO load centers, as well as NQ and NQOD panelboards. The breaker includes a traditional pigtail neutral connection. Equipped with a Visi-Trip indicator, it allows users to quickly identify tripped circuits. No. Square D QO breakers are not interchangeable with Homeline panels. This breaker is designed exclusively for QO load centers, NQ panelboards, and NQOD panelboards.
What does the VH in the QO120VHAFI catalog number indicate?
The VH designates a high interrupting rating of 22kAIC at 120VAC. Standard QO breakers without the VH designation typically have a 10kAIC rating.
Is the QO120VHAFI still actively manufactured by Square D?
The QO120VHAFI branch/feeder AFCI has been discontinued by Schneider Electric and is directly replaced by the QO120VHCAFI, which provides upgraded combination arc fault (CAFI) protection.
What is the purpose of the pigtail wire on this breaker?
The pigtail wire must be connected directly to the panel neutral bus bar. This connection powers the internal circuitry required to monitor and detect arc faults.
Does this breaker provide combination arc fault (CAFI) protection?
No. The QO120VHAFI is a branch/feeder arc fault circuit interrupter (AFI), which detects parallel arcs. For series and parallel arc detection, a combination AFCI (CAFI) like the QO120VHCAFI is required.
Can I use this 1 pole AFCI breaker on a multiwire branch circuit?
No. 1 pole AFCI breakers with a pigtail neutral cannot be used on shared neutral multiwire branch circuits. Doing so will cause the breaker to trip immediately upon sensing an imbalance.
