Description
A drop-in solution for older systems, the 40-amp Eaton HF3040 provides dependable thermal-magnetic protection for 3-phase commercial applications. It is rated for use on systems up to 600VAC or 250VDC. This bolt-on MCCB fits perfectly into legacy Westinghouse panelboards, Pow-R-Line C setups, and standard F-Frame enclosures. It restores functionality to aging infrastructure and is replaced by the HFD3040. The breaker carries a 65kAIC rating at 240V and includes Mark 75 technology.Specifications

The Eaton HFD3040 is the direct modern replacement. Because both breakers belong to the F-Frame family, the HFD3040 shares the exact same physical dimensions and mounting footprint as the original HF3040.
Can I install the HF3040 in a modern Eaton panelboard?
Yes, while originally a Westinghouse product, the HF3040 is fully compatible with modern Eaton Pow-R-Line C panelboards and standard Eaton F-Frame enclosures, as well as legacy Westinghouse panels.
How is the HF3040 wired for 250VDC applications?
When applying the HF3040 in DC systems up to 250VDC, multiple poles must be wired in series. For grounded or ungrounded systems, the specific wiring configuration depends on the load isolation and voltage, following Eaton F-Frame DC wiring guidelines.
Does the HF3040 allow for field-adjustable trip settings?
No, this breaker utilizes a thermal-magnetic trip unit with fixed long-time and fixed instantaneous (LI) functions. The trip curve is factory-set and cannot be adjusted by the installer.
Are the HF3040 and FD3040 physically interchangeable?
Yes. Both are Eaton/Westinghouse F-Frame breakers and share the same dimensions and bolt-on mounting. However, they have different short-circuit interrupting ratings, so you must verify that the breaker meets your system fault current requirements before substituting.

Free Shipping Policy
Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping

Expedited Shipments
