Part of the classic N-Frame series, the Federal Pacific NEF214020 delivers 20 amps of thermal-magnetic protection for commercial environments. It handles 120/277VAC and 125VDC applications with a robust 14 kAIC rating at 277V. Designed as an exact replacement, it bolts into legacy Federal Pacific NEF panelboards to keep existing distribution systems operational. This breaker is SWD and HACR rated, making it suitable for switching fluorescent lighting and HVAC equipment loads safely.
Which panelboards accept the NEF214020 circuit breaker?
This N-Frame breaker is specifically designed to bolt into legacy Federal Pacific NEF commercial panelboards. It will not fit in residential Stab-Lok load centers.
Is the NEF214020 affected by the Federal Pacific Stab-Lok safety recalls?
No. The NEF214020 is a commercial N-Frame molded case circuit breaker, which utilizes a completely different design from the residential Stab-Lok breakers that were the subject of safety controversies.
Are original Federal Pacific NEF breakers still in active production?
No, Federal Pacific Electric is no longer in business, making original NEF breakers obsolete. These breakers are sourced specifically to maintain existing legacy commercial distribution systems without requiring a full panel replacement.
Does the NEF214020 provide adjustable trip settings?
No, this breaker features a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit. Both the long-time overload and instantaneous short-circuit functions are factory set and non-interchangeable.
How is the NEF214020 secured to the panel bus?
It utilizes a bolt-on connection, providing a secure, vibration-resistant mechanical and electrical contact directly to the panelboard bus.

Great service & pricing
Superbreakers did a great job for us. We called and asked if the breakers were actually in their possession. Withing 30 minutes they called us back (which is rare these days), and we got our breakers the next morning.
