Part of the BLH series, this 1-pole, 15-amp breaker delivers essential 5mA Class A ground-fault protection for commercial and industrial environments. It operates on 120VAC systems and utilizes thermal-magnetic trip technology to guard against overloads and short circuits. This bolt-on unit fits securely into Siemens P1, P2, and P3 panelboards. Note that this model is replaced by the BF115AH. It features a 22kAIC interrupting rating and comes equipped with load side lugs.
What is the difference between the Siemens BF115 and BF115H?
The H in BF115H indicates a high interrupting rating. The BF115H is rated for 22kAIC at 120VAC, whereas the standard BF115 is rated for 10kAIC.
What level of ground fault protection does the BF115H provide?
The BF115H provides Class A ground fault protection, which trips at a 5mA threshold. This is designed for personnel protection in wet locations to comply with NEC requirements.
How is the neutral connection wired on the BF115H?
The BF115H features a pigtail neutral wire that must be connected directly to the panelboard neutral bar to ensure the ground fault circuitry functions correctly.
What is the plug-on equivalent to the BF115H?
The plug-on equivalent for residential load centers is the Siemens QF115H or QF115AH. The BF115H is strictly a bolt-on breaker for commercial panelboards.
Can the BF115H replace a standard 1-pole BL or BQD breaker?
Yes, the BF115H shares the same physical footprint as standard 1-pole BL and BQD breakers. It can be installed in the same panelboard spaces when upgrading a circuit to include GFCI protection.
What does the LIG trip function code mean on the BF115H?
LIG stands for Long-Time, Instantaneous, and Ground Fault. This means the breaker provides thermal overload protection (Long-Time), short circuit protection (Instantaneous), and personnel ground fault protection (Ground Fault).
