Engineered for demanding industrial environments, this 150A, 3-pole PowerPacT H-frame breaker delivers robust performance for switchboards and enclosures. It features a standard unit-mount configuration with lug terminals, making it an ideal electronic trip upgrade for legacy KAL36150 installations. The standout feature is its factory-installed Micrologic 3.2S trip unit.
What does the U33X in the HDL36150U33X catalog number indicate?
The U33X suffix indicates the breaker is equipped with a factory-installed Micrologic 3.2S electronic trip unit, providing adjustable Long-Time, Short-Time, and Instantaneous (LSI) protection functions.
Can the HDL36150U33X be reverse fed?
Yes, standard unit-mount PowerPacT H-frame circuit breakers with Micrologic trip units are suitable for reverse-fed applications unless specifically marked with line and load restrictions.
Can the HDL36150U33X replace older Square D circuit breakers?
Yes, PowerPacT H-frame circuit breakers are frequently used to upgrade or replace legacy Square D F-frame (such as FAL) and K-frame (such as KAL) breakers. Because the physical dimensions differ, a retrofit kit or mounting modification may be required when upgrading.
Can I install the HDL36150U33X in an I-Line panelboard?
No, the HDL36150U33X is a unit-mount (feed-thru) circuit breaker designed with lugs on both the line and load sides. For I-Line panelboards, you need the I-Line version, catalog number HDA36150U33X, which features plug-on line connections.
Does the HDL36150U33X include a push-to-trip feature?
Yes, all PowerPacT H-frame circuit breakers feature an integral push-to-trip button on the cover, allowing users to manually trip the breaker to verify the mechanical operation of the trip mechanism.
What does the LSI trip function code mean on the HDL36150U33X?
LSI stands for Long-Time, Short-Time, and Instantaneous protection. This allows you to adjust the breaker's response to overloads (Long-Time), short circuits with a time delay (Short-Time) for coordination with downstream breakers, and immediate short circuits (Instantaneous).
Does the HDL36150U33X come with lugs installed?
Yes, the L in the HDL prefix indicates that this breaker comes factory-equipped with mechanical lugs on both the line and load sides.
Can I add auxiliary contacts or a shunt trip to the HDL36150U33X?
Yes, PowerPacT H-frame circuit breakers support a wide range of field-installable internal accessories, including auxiliary switches, alarm switches, shunt trips, and undervoltage releases. These are installed under the front accessory cover.
What does the D in the HDL36150U33X part number stand for?
The D indicates the breaker's interrupting capacity tier within the PowerPacT H-frame family, providing a standard D-interrupt rating of 18kA at 480VAC.
