Product FAQs
5 answers
What does the "U31X" suffix mean in the HGL36150U31X catalog number?
The "U31X" indicates the breaker is equipped with a Micrologic 3.2 electronic trip unit. This solid-state technology provides adjustable long-time and instantaneous (LI) protection settings, offering more precise coordination than standard thermal-magnetic trip units.
What are the tightening torque specifications for the standard lugs?
For the factory-installed AL150HD box lugs, tighten 14 AWG to 10 AWG wire to 44 lbf-in. For 8 AWG to 3/0 AWG wire, tighten to 124 lbf-in. Always confirm specifications with the manufacturer label on the side of the breaker prior to termination.
How does this unit-mount breaker install into Square D NF panelboards?
While it is compatible with NF panelboards, this unit-mount breaker requires a specific main breaker kit or sub-feed mounting kit for proper installation on the panel chassis. It does not plug directly onto the bus like I-Line variants.
Is this breaker rated for 80% or 100% continuous current?
The HGL36150U31X is a standard 80% rated circuit breaker. Applications requiring a 100% continuous current rating would require a different catalog number, typically denoted by a "C" suffix in the part number.
Does the PowerPacT H-Frame support field-installable electrical accessories?
Yes. You can field-install internal accessories such as shunt trips, undervoltage releases, and auxiliary contacts. These mount securely in designated accessory pockets behind the breaker front cover.
