Providing specialized switching neutral functionality, the Eaton CHF220SW safely disconnects the neutral wire simultaneously with the hot conductors. This 2-pole, 20-amp plug-on breaker is frequently utilized in commercial environments for pumping, ventilation, and fuel dispensing equipment where complete circuit isolation is required. It installs into Type CH load centers and serves as an exact replacement for the CH220SW. The unit features a 10kAIC rating and a visual trip flag.
What does the "SW" stand for in the CHF220SW catalog number?
The "SW" indicates that this is a Switching Neutral circuit breaker. It is designed to simultaneously disconnect the ungrounded (hot) conductor and the grounded (neutral) conductor, which is required for specific applications like fuel dispensing pumps.
What panels are compatible with the Eaton CHF220SW?
This plug-on breaker is compatible with Eaton and Cutler-Hammer Type CH loadcenters. It requires two 3/4-inch spaces for installation.
Can the CHF220SW replace a CH220SW?
Yes, the CHF220SW is the direct replacement for the older CH220SW. The primary difference is that the CHF version includes a mechanical trip flag indicator.
Does the CHF220SW include a trip indicator?
Yes, the CHF series features a mechanical trip flag that provides a clear visual indication to differentiate between a breaker that has tripped and one that has simply been turned off.
Can I use the CHF220SW for standard 240V residential loads like a water heater?
No. While it is a 2-pole breaker, the CHF220SW is a switching neutral breaker designed to disconnect one hot leg and one neutral simultaneously for 120V circuits. It is not intended for standard 240V loads that require two hot legs.
What wire sizes are accepted by the lugs on the CHF220SW?
The box lugs accept copper or aluminum wiring. They can accommodate one wire from 14 to 8 AWG, or two wires from 14 to 10 AWG.
What type of trip mechanism does the CHF220SW use?
It uses a thermal magnetic trip mechanism with fixed long-time and instantaneous trip functions. The thermal element avoids nuisance tripping on mild overloads, while the magnetic element reacts instantly to severe short circuits.

Customers say these breakers work perfectly and fit exactly as described. Many reviews mention the company stocks hard-to-find parts that local hardware stores don't carry. Users appreciate the competitive pricing, often noting costs are lower than big box stores. Fast shipping and delivery times consistently exceed expectations. The ordering process is described as simple and straightforward. Customers frequently mention they will use the service again and recommend it to others. One negative review cited delayed fulfillment and high return fees affecting their business operations.
Product is fine but customer service is not great!
I needed these breakers for an install - first time using the company. They said they had them in stock. Took over a week to fulfil the order and it was 11 or 12 days before I had my hands on them. Tough on my business. Then when I went return them they hit me with so many fees that I was gonna net under $30 on a $104 order. It's too bad this was my first experience with them. I'll be sure to tell my electricians and project managers to never use this company. Short sighted. They won the battle but lost the war with a potential great long term client.
