Can the Eaton HFD2175 replace older Westinghouse or Cutler-Hammer HFD breakers?
Yes. Eaton acquired the Cutler-Hammer and Westinghouse distribution equipment lines. The Eaton HFD2175 is a direct, backward-compatible replacement for older Cutler-Hammer and Westinghouse HFD2175 breakers sharing the same frame size, amperage, and mounting footprint.
What does the H in the HFD2175 part number signify?
The H indicates a High Interrupting capacity. The HFD2175 is rated for 65 kAIC at 480VAC, providing a higher fault current rating than standard FD-frame breakers, making it suitable for systems with higher available fault currents.
Can the HFD2175 be reverse fed?
Yes. Eaton Series C F-frame thermal-magnetic circuit breakers, including the HFD2175, are suitable for reverse feed applications.
What wire sizes are accepted by the standard lugs on the HFD2175?
The standard lug terminals on the HFD2175 accept wire gauges from 4 AWG to 4/0 AWG. They are rated for both copper (Cu) and aluminum (Al) conductors.
Does the HFD2175 provide GFCI or AFCI protection?

Yes. In addition to its AC ratings, the HFD2175 is rated for up to 250VDC with an interrupting capacity of 22 kAIC. When wiring for DC, ensure the poles are wired in series according to Eaton guidelines for ungrounded or grounded systems.

No. The HFD2175 features a fixed thermal and fixed magnetic trip unit. The trip settings cannot be adjusted in the field.
What type of mounting connection does the HFD2175 require?
