Supplied in protective retail packaging, the Eaton GFCB250CS delivers reliable 5mA Class A ground fault mitigation for 240V residential circuits. This 50-amp device ensures NEC compliance for outdoor, garage, or spa wiring where moisture is a concern. The plug-on design fits securely into Eaton BR, Bryant, Challenger, and Westinghouse load centers. Featuring a factory-attached pigtail neutral, it provides comprehensive thermal-magnetic and LIG protection in a compact footprint.
What is the difference between the GFCB250 and the GFCB250CS?
The "CS" suffix indicates that the breaker comes in retail clamshell packaging. The breaker itself is identical to the standard GFCB250 model.
Which load centers are compatible with this 50A GFCI breaker?
This breaker is designed for use in Eaton BR, Bryant, Challenger, and Westinghouse load centers that accept 1-inch plug-on breakers.
How do I connect the neutral pigtail on this breaker?
The white pigtail wire must be connected directly to the neutral bar in your load center for the ground fault protection to function properly.
Can I extend the neutral pigtail if it does not reach the neutral bar?
No. Eaton specifies that the factory-installed pigtail is the maximum length allowed and cannot be spliced or extended. You must locate the breaker in a panel position where the pigtail can reach the neutral assembly.
Do I need to connect a load neutral to this breaker for a straight 240V circuit?
In 2-pole 240V applications without a neutral load, such as a 240V well pump or heater, it is not necessary to connect a load neutral to the breaker. However, the breaker's white pigtail must still be connected to the panel's neutral bar.
Where should this breaker be positioned in a plug-on neutral (PON) load center?
When installing long-body BR breakers like this 2-pole GFCI in a BR plug-on neutral load center, Eaton recommends placing them towards the bottom of the panel, below the twin neutral bars.
What type of ground fault protection does this breaker provide?
This breaker provides Class A ground fault protection, which is designed to trip when it detects a ground fault current of 5 milliamperes (mA).
How often should I test the ground fault function on this breaker?
You should test the GFCI function monthly by pressing the "TEST" button on the breaker. If it is functioning correctly, the breaker will trip and must be reset before restoring power.
