Engineered to fit older commercial systems, the NB100FED provides reliable thermal-magnetic protection for 120/240V circuits. This 100A two-pole unit mounts into Federal Pacific NB panelboards without requiring aftermarket adapters or modifications. Often cross-referenced with the UBIF2100NB substitute, it delivers a 10kA interrupting capacity for standard facility maintenance. Facility managers rely on this exact-fit component to keep existing infrastructure operational and code-compliant.
What type of panelboard is the NB100FED designed for?
It is designed exclusively for use in legacy Federal Pacific NB panelboards. It is a bolt-on molded case circuit breaker and will not fit standard plug-on load centers or Stab-Lok panels.
Can I use this breaker in a Federal Pacific Stab-Lok residential load center?
No. The NB100FED is an NB frame bolt-on breaker intended for commercial NB panelboards. It is not compatible with Stab-Lok residential load centers, which require NA or NC plug-on breakers.
How does the NB100FED mount into the panelboard?
This breaker features a bolt-on connection type. It must be securely bolted directly to the panelboard busbars rather than snapping or plugging into place.
What size wire is accepted by the lugs on this 100A breaker?
The terminal lugs on the NB100FED accept aluminum or copper wire ranging from 1 AWG to 3/0 AWG.
What type of trip mechanism does the NB100FED use?
It utilizes a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit. This provides both long-time thermal protection against sustained overloads and instantaneous magnetic protection against short circuits.
Is there a modern aftermarket replacement for the Federal Pacific NB100FED?
Yes. Connecticut Electric manufactures UBI brand replacement breakers. The UBIF2100NB is a direct substitute designed to fit the same Federal Pacific NB panelboards.
Does this breaker support 277V or 480V commercial applications?
No. The NB100FED is rated for a maximum of 120/240VAC and is not suitable for 277V or 480V electrical systems.
What should be inspected when installing this breaker in a legacy panel?
Because Federal Pacific equipment is legacy, a licensed electrician should inspect the entire panelboard busing for signs of pitting, corrosion, or thermal damage before bolting on the replacement breaker.

Hard to find breakers
Had a project at a school built in the 1960’s and thought we were up a creek when confronted with ancient FPE commercial panels. Luckily we found what we needed with Suoerbreakers.
