Belonging to the PowerPacT J-Frame family, this 3-pole, 250A molded case circuit breaker utilizes true RMS sensing for accurate current measurement. It is built for demanding commercial and industrial applications. The unit-mount configuration installs easily into Square D industrial control panels and switchboards. It includes factory-installed line and load lugs supporting 3/0 AWG to 350 kcmil wiring. Advanced functionality is driven by the Micrologic 6.
What does the U44X in the JDL36250U44X catalog number indicate?
The U44X suffix indicates that this breaker is equipped with a Micrologic 6.2 A (Ammeter) electronic trip unit. This provides adjustable LSIG (Long-time, Short-time, Instantaneous, and Ground-fault) protection along with integrated current monitoring.
Can the JDL36250U44X be reverse fed?
Yes, this PowerPacT J-frame breaker is suitable for reverse-fed applications. It features a unit-mount design with mechanical lugs on both the line and load sides.
Is the JDL36250U44X rated for 100% continuous current?
No, this specific breaker has a standard 80% continuous current rating. For a 100% rated version, you would need a catalog number with a C suffix, such as JDL36250CU44X.
What enclosures or panels is this breaker compatible with?
The JDL36250U44X is a unit-mount breaker designed for use in Square D industrial control panels, switchboards, and standalone enclosures. It is not designed for I-Line panelboards, which require a plug-on I-Line mounting bracket.
Are the lugs on the JDL36250U44X factory-installed?
Yes, this unit-mount breaker comes with factory-installed mechanical lugs on both the line and load sides, accepting one 3/0 AWG to 350 kcmil aluminum or copper wire per phase.
What is the difference between the JDL36250U44X and the JGL36250U44X?
The difference is the interrupting rating. The JDL has a D interrupting class (18 kA at 480 VAC), while the JGL has a G interrupting class (35 kA at 480 VAC). They share the same physical dimensions and Micrologic 6.2 A trip unit.
Does this breaker provide ground-fault protection for equipment?
Yes, the Micrologic 6.2 A trip unit includes an adjustable ground-fault (the G in LSIG) trip function, which provides equipment ground-fault protection. It is not designed for personnel ground-fault protection (GFCI).
How is the JDL36250U44X mounted?
It is a unit-mount (feed-thru) breaker, meaning it is secured with screws or bolts to a backpan or mounting plate rather than plugging onto a busbar. Both the line and load sides use mechanical lugs for wire connections.
