Description
Built for high-density applications, the Eaton BQ220250 quadplex breaker provides four poles of protection. It features a 2-pole 50A center circuit and a 2-pole 20A outer circuit to maximize available panel space. This plug-on unit mounts into Eaton Type BR load centers, occupying just two standard 1-inch spaces. It accepts 14-4 AWG wire and includes a rejection tab. It is engineered for Eaton Type BR load centers. It is also a direct replacement for legacy Bryant, Westinghouse, and Challenger panels that accept Type BR plug-on breakers.
Can I install the BQ220250 in any Eaton BR panel?
No. This is a Circuit Total Limitation (CTL) breaker equipped with a rejection tab. It must be installed in a CTL-rated load center with notched bus bars designed to accept tandem or quadplex breakers.
How many panel spaces does this quadplex breaker occupy?
The BQ220250 provides two separate 240V circuits (one 20A and one 50A) while only occupying two standard 1-inch spaces in your load center, making it ideal for maximizing panel capacity.
If the 20A circuit overloads, will it trip the 50A circuit as well?
No. The BQ220250 features an independent trip mechanism. A fault or overload on the 20A outer circuit will not cause the 50A center circuit to trip, and vice versa.
Is the BQ220250 suitable for HVAC equipment?
Yes, this breaker is HACR rated, meaning it is approved for use with heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment that requires a 20A or 50A 240V circuit.
Does the BQ220250 require a neutral pigtail connection?
