Built for industrial applications, the Square D KAL36100-1121 is a 3-pole, 100A molded case circuit breaker. It delivers reliable overcurrent protection for motor control centers and switchboards. This unit mount breaker installs into standard Square D enclosures. As a legacy K-Frame model, it is replaced by the PowerPacT HGL36100, requiring a separate UVR and retrofit kit. Rated 25kAIC at 480V, it features an adjustable magnetic trip and a factory-installed undervoltage release.

Product FAQs
6 answers
What does the -1121 suffix on the KAL36100-1121 indicate?
The -1121 suffix designates a factory-installed 120VAC undervoltage release (UVR). If your application does not require a 120V UVR, the standard KAL36100 is the direct equivalent.
What happens if the 120VAC control power to the undervoltage release is lost?
If the 120VAC control voltage drops below the operating threshold of the factory-installed UVR, the breaker will automatically trip. The breaker cannot be reset or closed until the 120VAC control power is restored.
Is there a modern replacement for the KAL36100-1121?
Yes, the legacy K-frame series has been superseded by the Square D PowerPacT H-frame series. The modern equivalent for the base breaker is the HGL36100, though you will need to add a field-installable 120VAC undervoltage release accessory to match the -1121 configuration.
How is the KAL36100-1121 mounted?
This is a unit-mount breaker, meaning it bolts directly to the backpan or mounting plate in Square D enclosures, motor control centers, and industrial control panels. It uses feed-thru lug connections for both the line and load sides.
Can I install the KAL36100-1121 in an I-Line panelboard?
No, the KAL36100-1121 is a unit-mount (feed-thru) breaker. It will not fit in an I-Line panelboard, which requires a plug-on I-Line breaker.
How do I adjust the trip settings on the KAL36100-1121?
The thermal element for long-time overload protection is fixed at 100A. However, the magnetic element for instantaneous short-circuit protection can be adjusted using the dial on the front of the breaker to coordinate with other protective devices in your system.
