As part of the PowerPacT B-Frame lineup, it provides reliable thermal-magnetic trip functions for commercial power distribution. Designed specifically for Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards, this unit comes factory-configured for B-phase connections. It seamlessly replaces older FA14015 models. Can I use the BDA140153 to replace an older FA or FH frame breaker?
Yes. The PowerPacT B-frame series was introduced by Schneider Electric as the direct upgrade and replacement for legacy Square D FA and FH frame I-Line circuit breakers.
What are the wire size requirements for the BDA140153?
The load-side mechanical lugs are designed to accept 14 AWG to 2/0 AWG wire. Both copper (Cu) and aluminum (Al) conductors are supported.
Is the BDA140153 rated for direct current (DC) applications?
Yes. While primarily used in AC systems up to 480V, this breaker is also rated to safely interrupt 10kA at 125VDC.
What do the LI trip functions on this breaker mean?
This breaker features a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit with LI functions. The L stands for Long-Time, which provides overload protection, and the I stands for Instantaneous, which provides short circuit protection.
