Product FAQs
8 answers
What panelboards are compatible with the BGA24020Y1 circuit breaker?
This PowerPacT B-frame breaker features an I-Line mounting style, making it exclusively compatible with Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards.
What phase connection does the BGA24020Y1 use?
This specific 2-pole I-Line breaker is configured with an AB phase connection, meaning it will draw power from the A and B bus bars in your panelboard.
Can the PowerPacT BGA24020Y1 replace older Square D breakers?
Yes. The PowerPacT B-frame series was introduced to replace legacy Square D FA and FH series molded case circuit breakers. It maintains the same 1.5-inch per pole width, allowing it to serve as a direct drop-in replacement in existing I-Line panelboards without requiring blank fillers.
What wire sizes are accepted by the load-side lugs on the BGA24020Y1?
The factory-installed mechanical lugs on the load side accept 14 AWG to 2/0 AWG aluminum or copper conductors. The line side utilizes the I-Line plug-in connection.
Is the BGA24020Y1 rated for DC voltage applications?
Yes. In addition to its 480Y/277VAC maximum AC rating, this thermal-magnetic breaker is rated for use in 250VDC systems with an interrupting capacity of 20kA.
Does the BGA24020Y1 feature a push-to-trip mechanism?
Yes. All PowerPacT B-frame circuit breakers include an integral push-to-trip button on the front cover, allowing electricians to manually trip the breaker to verify the mechanical operation of the trip mechanism.
How does the BGA24020Y1 mount into the panelboard?
It utilizes Square D's I-Line plug-in mounting system. The line side of the breaker features jaws that press directly onto the panelboard bus assembly, providing a secure electrical connection without the need for line-side wiring.
What type of trip unit is installed in the BGA24020Y1?
This breaker is equipped with a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit, providing both long-time (overload) and instantaneous (short circuit) protection. The trip settings are factory-fixed and cannot be adjusted in the field.
