The FAL22020 is a legacy F-Frame circuit breaker. Schneider Electric has transitioned this line to the newer PowerPacT B-Frame series for modern applications. However, the FAL22020 remains available as an exact replacement for existing control panels and switchboards.
What type of panels accept the FAL22020 circuit breaker?
This is a unit-mount, feed-thru circuit breaker designed for hardwired installations in compatible Square D enclosures, switchboards, and control panels. It is not compatible with I-Line panelboards, which require plug-on style breakers.
What wire sizes are accepted by the standard lugs on the FAL22020?
The factory-installed lugs accommodate 14 to 4 AWG copper wire or 12 to 4 AWG aluminum wire.
Can the FAL22020 be used in DC power systems?
Yes. While primarily used in 240VAC applications with a 10kAIC rating, this breaker is also rated for 250VDC systems, where it provides an interrupting capacity of 5kAIC.
Can I substitute an Eaton or Siemens F-Frame breaker for the Square D FAL22020?
No. Even though other manufacturers use the F-Frame designation, circuit breakers are not interchangeable across different brands. You must use a Square D or Schneider Electric breaker to maintain proper fit and UL compliance.
Are the trip settings adjustable on the FAL22020?
No. This breaker features a thermal-magnetic trip unit with fixed Long-Time (L) and fixed Instantaneous (I) trip functions. It does not offer field-adjustable trip settings.

Expedited Shipments
