5 answersCan I replace my MAL36200 with a modern PowerPacT breaker?
Yes, the PowerPacT J-Frame (such as the JGA36200) is the modern 200A equivalent. However, because the physical dimensions differ from the legacy M-Frame, upgrading requires retrofit modifications to your switchboard or motor control center. Installing another MAL36200 provides an exact drop-in replacement.
What wire sizes do the lugs on the MAL36200 accept?
Because this 200A breaker is built on the larger legacy M-Frame, it comes standard with AL900MA lugs. These oversized lugs accommodate three 3/0 AWG to 500 kcmil aluminum or copper conductors per phase.
Can the MAL36200 be installed in an I-Line panelboard?
No. This is a unit-mount, feed-thru circuit breaker intended for hardwired installations in switchboards and motor control centers. It lacks the plug-on jaw connections required for Square D I-Line panelboards.
Are the trip settings adjustable on this M-Frame breaker?
The thermal protection (Long-Time) is fixed at 200A, but the magnetic (Instantaneous) trip function is adjustable. This allows panel builders to fine-tune the short-circuit response for better coordination with downstream devices.
Is the MAL36200 rated for use with HVAC equipment?
Yes, this breaker is HACR rated, making it approved for use with heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration motor loads.

Free Shipping Policy
Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping
We strive to ship out your items the same day the order is placed. In rare circumstances SuperBreakers may reserve up to 5 business days to consolidate orders for complete shipment.
Expedited Shipments
Orders being shipped via Next Day Air, 2 Day Shipping or 3 Day Shipping must be received by 3 PM EST to guarantee same-day shipments. Expedited orders only ship on normal business days. Shipments will NOT be sent out on Saturdays and Sundays.
International Shipping
