The EGB36040 is a bolt-on E-frame breaker designed exclusively for use in Square D NF series lighting and distribution panelboards. It is not compatible with NQ or QO panels.
What does the G in the EGB36040 part number signify?
In Square D E-frame nomenclature, the second letter indicates the interrupting rating tier. The G designates a 35kA rating at 480Y/277VAC.
Can I substitute an EDB36040 or EJB36040 for the EGB36040?
The EJB36040 has a higher interrupting rating (65kA at 480Y/277VAC) and is a safe, direct upgrade. However, the EDB36040 has a lower rating (18kA at 480Y/277VAC) and cannot be used if your system fault current requires the 35kA rating of the EGB.
How much panel space does the EGB36040 require?
As a 3-pole E-frame breaker, it requires three mounting spaces. E-frame breakers measure 1 inch per pole, so it occupies a total of 3 inches of vertical space in an NF panelboard.
Are the standard lugs on the EGB36040 rated for aluminum wire?
Yes, the factory-installed lugs are dual-rated for both copper and aluminum conductors. They accept 14 to 2/0 AWG copper or 12 to 2/0 AWG aluminum wire.

Expedited Shipments
