6 answersIs the KHL36080 an I-Line or unit-mount circuit breaker?
This is a unit-mount breaker designed for feed-thru lug connections. It does not have the plug-on jaw connections required for I-Line panelboards. It is typically installed in Square D enclosures, switchboards, and motor control centers.
What is the difference between the KAL36080 and the KHL36080?
Both are 80A, 3-pole K-frame breakers, but the KHL series features a higher interrupting rating. The KHL is rated for 35kA at 480VAC, whereas the standard KAL is rated for 25kA at 480VAC.
How does the adjustable magnetic trip function operate on this breaker?
The thermal trip is fixed for 80A overload protection, while the magnetic trip is adjustable. Electricians can set the magnetic trip dial on the front of the breaker to coordinate short-circuit protection with other devices in the electrical system.
What size wire is accepted by the lugs on the KHL36080?
The factory-installed lugs accept aluminum or copper conductors ranging from 4 AWG to 350 kcmil. Ensure proper torque specifications are followed during installation as labeled on the breaker faceplate.
Is the KHL36080 still in active production by Square D?
The K-frame series is a legacy molded case circuit breaker line. For new installations, Schneider Electric has transitioned to the PowerPact H-frame and J-frame series, though K-frame breakers remain widely used for replacements in existing switchboards and enclosures.

No. The KHL36080 is an industrial molded case circuit breaker designed for heavy-duty enclosures, switchboards, and motor control centers. It will not fit in residential QO or Homeline load centers.

Free Shipping Policy
Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping

Expedited Shipments
