This bolt-on miniature circuit breaker is designed for use in Eaton Pow-R-Line panelboards, as well as legacy Westinghouse and Cutler-Hammer panelboards that accept Quicklag BAB-frame breakers.
Will this breaker fit into a standard residential load center?
No. The BAB3060H is a bolt-on breaker with an extended tang line terminal designed for industrial and commercial panelboards. It will not snap into standard plug-on residential load centers.
How does this breaker connect to the panelboard and the load?
The line side connects directly to the panelboard bus via an extended tang bolt-on connection. The load side features a box lug terminal that accommodates 8 AWG to 1/0 AWG copper or aluminum wiring.
What wire material is permitted for the load terminals on the BAB3060H?
The load terminals are rated for both copper and aluminum (Al/Cu) conductors. When installing aluminum wiring, it is standard practice to apply an approved oxide-inhibiting joint compound to ensure a secure, safe connection.
Can the BAB3060H be used to replace older Westinghouse or Cutler-Hammer breakers?
Yes. Eaton acquired the Cutler-Hammer and Westinghouse electrical distribution lines. The current Eaton BAB3060H is a direct, UL 489 listed replacement for older breakers with the identical BAB3060H catalog number.
Is this circuit breaker suitable for use in high-fault environments?
The BAB3060H has a maximum interrupting rating of 10,000 amps (10kAIC) at 240VAC. If your application's available fault current exceeds 10kA, you must use a higher-rated breaker, such as the Eaton QBHW series, or employ an approved series-rated system.
Does this breaker feature adjustable trip settings?
No. The BAB3060H utilizes a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit. Both the long-time overload and instantaneous short-circuit functions are factory calibrated and cannot be adjusted in the field.
Can this breaker be used for switching high-intensity discharge or fluorescent lighting loads?
The BAB3060H is a 60-amp breaker and does not carry an SWD (Switching Duty) or HID rating. Under the National Electrical Code, SWD and HID ratings are restricted to 15-amp and 20-amp breakers. It is strictly intended for standard branch circuit and equipment protection.
