It is designed for Eaton and Cutler-Hammer Type BR load centers. It is also UL approved for use in specific legacy Westinghouse, Challenger, and Bryant panels that accept Type BR breakers.
Can I install this breaker in a Square D or Siemens panel?
No. The BR270 is not UL listed for use in Square D, Siemens, or GE load centers. You must use the manufacturer's approved breakers for those panels to maintain safety and code compliance.
How many panel spaces does the BR270 require?
This is a 2-pole breaker with a 1-inch width per pole, so it requires two standard 1-inch spaces in your panelboard.
Does the BR270 replace older Bryant or Westinghouse breakers?
Yes. Eaton acquired these brands, and the BR270 is the direct, UL approved replacement for legacy Bryant BR270 and Westinghouse BR270 70-amp breakers.
Is the BR270 an AFCI or GFCI breaker?
No. This is a standard thermal magnetic circuit breaker. It does not provide arc fault (AFCI) or ground fault (GFCI) protection.
Do the terminals on the BR270 accept aluminum wiring?
Yes. The box lugs are rated for both copper and aluminum conductors ranging from 8 AWG to 1/0 AWG. We recommend applying an approved oxide inhibitor when using aluminum wire.
Is this breaker HACR rated?
Yes. Eaton BR 2-pole circuit breakers are HACR rated, meaning they are approved for use with heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment that requires a 70-amp circuit.

Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping
We strive to ship out your items the same day the order is placed. In rare circumstances SuperBreakers may reserve up to 5 business days to consolidate orders for complete shipment.
Expedited Shipments
Orders being shipped via Next Day Air, 2 Day Shipping or 3 Day Shipping must be received by 3 PM EST to guarantee same-day shipments. Expedited orders only ship on normal business days. Shipments will NOT be sent out on Saturdays and Sundays.
