Yes. Eaton Type BR circuit breakers are UL listed as genuine replacement breakers for most vintage Cutler-Hammer, Bryant, Westinghouse, and Challenger load centers that accept 1-inch plug-on breakers. Always verify the panel label to ensure Type BR or Type C compatibility.
Does the Eaton BR290 replace the Bryant BR290?
Yes. Eaton acquired the Bryant and Westinghouse distribution equipment lines. The current Eaton BR290 is the exact, UL-listed manufacturer replacement for obsolete Bryant BR290 and Westinghouse BR290 circuit breakers.
How much panel space is required to install the BR290?
This 2-pole breaker requires two standard 1-inch spaces in a Type BR load center. It will not fit in load centers designed for 3/4-inch Type CH breakers.
Is this circuit breaker rated for HVAC equipment?
Yes. Eaton Type BR 2-pole breakers are HACR rated, meaning they are UL listed for safe use with heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration motor loads.
How do you properly reset this breaker if it trips?
When tripped, the breaker handle moves to a center position. To restore power, you must firmly push the handle completely to the OFF position first, then move it back to the ON position.

Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping
We strive to ship out your items the same day the order is placed. In rare circumstances SuperBreakers may reserve up to 5 business days to consolidate orders for complete shipment.
Expedited Shipments
Orders being shipped via Next Day Air, 2 Day Shipping or 3 Day Shipping must be received by 3 PM EST to guarantee same-day shipments. Expedited orders only ship on normal business days. Shipments will NOT be sent out on Saturdays and Sundays.
