As a 3-pole breaker in the Type BR series, it requires three standard 1-inch spaces, occupying a total width of 3 inches on the panel bus.
Can the BR380 be used to replace breakers in older Challenger or Westinghouse panels?
Yes, Eaton Type BR breakers are UL approved direct replacements for legacy Challenger Type C breakers, as well as older Westinghouse and Bryant Type BR breakers.
Is this breaker interchangeable with Eaton Type CH breakers?
No. Eaton Type BR breakers measure 1 inch per pole, whereas Type CH breakers measure 3/4 inch per pole. Their mounting footprints and panel bus designs are entirely different and incompatible.
Will this 3-pole breaker fit in a typical residential 120/240V load center?
No. Standard residential load centers are single-phase and only accept 1-pole or 2-pole breakers. This 3-pole breaker is designed exclusively for 3-phase Eaton BR panels.
What is required if I want to back-feed this breaker as a main?
When back-feeding the BR380 to use as a main breaker, the National Electrical Code (NEC) requires a compatible Eaton hold-down kit to secure the breaker firmly to the panel bus.

Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.

Expedited Shipments
