No. The CHB315 is a bolt-on circuit breaker designed specifically for Eaton and Cutler-Hammer Type PB and PH panelboards, meter panels, and multi-metering modules. Standard CH loadcenters require plug-on breakers.
Can I substitute a BAB series breaker for the CHB315 in a PB panelboard?
No. Although both are bolt-on breakers, BAB breakers are designed for different distribution panels and cannot be used in CHB distribution equipment. You must use a CHB series breaker for Type PB and PH panelboards.
Is the CHB315 suitable for heating and cooling equipment?
Yes, this breaker is HACR rated. It is approved for use with heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment that requires an HACR-rated overcurrent protection device.
Does the CHB315 require a hold-down kit when used as a back-fed main?
No. Because the CHB315 is a bolt-on breaker, it mechanically secures directly to the panel busbar. This inherent mounting style satisfies the National Electrical Code requirement for back-fed breakers without needing an additional hold-down bracket.
How do I reset the CHB315 after a trip event?
When the breaker trips, the handle moves to a middle position between ON and OFF. To restore power, you must first push the handle completely to the OFF position to reset the internal mechanism, and then push it back to the ON position.
What type of protection does the thermal-magnetic trip unit provide?
The fixed thermal-magnetic mechanism provides two types of protection. The thermal element offers inverse-time protection against prolonged, mild overloads, while the magnetic element reacts instantaneously to clear severe short-circuit conditions.

Expedited Shipments
