Description
Supplying 40 amps of thermal-magnetic protection, this Series C F-frame circuit breaker is built for demanding commercial environments to defend against overloads. Equipped with load side lugs, the bolt-on design integrates easily into Eaton Series C panelboards and motor control centers. It substitutes FDB1040 and FD1040 models. Can the Eaton EHD1040 replace legacy Westinghouse breakers?
Yes, Eaton acquired the Westinghouse distribution equipment line. The current Eaton EHD1040 is a direct, exact-fit replacement for older Westinghouse and Cutler-Hammer EHD1040 breakers installed in existing F-frame panelboards.
What wire gauge is supported by the standard lugs on the EHD1040?
The factory-installed lugs accept copper or aluminum conductors ranging from 14 AWG to 1/0 AWG. Ensure proper torque specifications are followed during installation as outlined by the manufacturer.
Can the EHD1040 be used in DC power systems?
Yes, in addition to its AC ratings, this thermal-magnetic breaker is UL listed for 125VDC applications with a 10kA interrupting capacity, allowing it to be used in DC control panels and battery systems.
Are the trip settings on the EHD1040 adjustable?
No, this breaker features a non-interchangeable thermal-magnetic trip unit with fixed long-time and fixed instantaneous (LI) trip functions. It does not support field adjustments for the trip curve.

Free Shipping Policy
Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping
We strive to ship out your items the same day the order is placed. In rare circumstances SuperBreakers may reserve up to 5 business days to consolidate orders for complete shipment.
Expedited Shipments
Orders being shipped via Next Day Air, 2 Day Shipping or 3 Day Shipping must be received by 3 PM EST to guarantee same-day shipments. Expedited orders only ship on normal business days. Shipments will NOT be sent out on Saturdays and Sundays.
International Shipping
