This F-frame breaker is designed for use in Eaton Series C panelboards, motor control centers, and switchboards. It is a unit mount, feed-thru breaker and is not compatible with plug-on load centers.
What wire sizes are accepted by the lugs on the FD1040L?
The included lugs accept wire gauges from 14 AWG up to 1/0 AWG. Both copper and aluminum conductors are supported.
Is the Eaton FD1040L the same as the Cutler-Hammer FD1040L?
Yes. Eaton acquired Cutler-Hammer, and they continue to manufacture the Series C F-frame breakers under the Eaton brand. The FD1040L catalog number remains identical.
What does the L at the end of the FD1040L catalog number indicate?
The L suffix designates that the circuit breaker comes factory-equipped with line and load terminals (lugs).
Can the FD1040L be used in direct current (DC) applications?
Yes, this breaker is rated for 125VDC applications with an interrupting capacity of 10kAIC, in addition to its standard alternating current (AC) ratings.
Does the FD1040L feature adjustable trip settings?
No, this breaker features a fixed thermal and fixed magnetic trip unit. The long-time and instantaneous trip functions cannot be adjusted in the field.
What safety precautions should be taken before installing the FD1040L?
Always de-energize the panelboard or switchboard before installation. Verify that the power is off using a properly rated voltage tester, and ensure the breaker voltage and interrupting ratings meet or exceed the requirements of the circuit.

Free Shipping Policy
Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping
We strive to ship out your items the same day the order is placed. In rare circumstances SuperBreakers may reserve up to 5 business days to consolidate orders for complete shipment.
Expedited Shipments
Orders being shipped via Next Day Air, 2 Day Shipping or 3 Day Shipping must be received by 3 PM EST to guarantee same-day shipments. Expedited orders only ship on normal business days. Shipments will NOT be sent out on Saturdays and Sundays.
International Shipping

The breaker we purchased was as advertised. The breaker fit perfectly. We purchased reconditioned breaker and it seems to be working properly, accordingly to the golf course maintenance team that supervises the irrigation system.
Next day shipping came quickly even though the 4th of July was coming.
I wish it came with new installations hardware but that isn’t a deal breaker.
