Can I install the HFD3040L in a standard residential load center?
No. As a Series C F-Frame molded case circuit breaker, it is designed for industrial and commercial applications like Eaton panelboards, switchboards, and motor control centers. It will not fit in standard BR or CH residential load centers.
Is the HFD3040L a direct replacement for an FD3040L?
Yes. The HFD3040L shares the exact same physical dimensions and mounting footprint as the standard FD3040L, but offers a higher interrupting capacity (65kAIC at 480V versus 35kAIC for the FD). It is a safe, direct upgrade.
