Yes. Eaton acquired the Westinghouse distribution equipment division. The modern Eaton or Cutler-Hammer HMDL3800 is a direct, drop-in replacement for vintage Westinghouse breakers sharing the same catalog number.
What is the difference between the MDL3800 and the HMDL3800?
The HMDL3800 is the high-interrupting version of the standard MDL3800. While both share the exact same physical Series C M-Frame footprint, the standard MDL3800 is rated for a 50kA interrupting capacity at 480VAC, whereas the HMDL3800 provides a higher 65kA interrupting capacity at 480VAC.
Is this circuit breaker suitable for DC systems?
Yes, the HMDL3800 is dual-rated for both alternating and direct current. It can be safely utilized in DC applications up to 250VDC, where it provides a 25kA interrupting rating.
What type of wire and gauge will the included terminals accept?
The standard pressure line and load lugs included with this breaker are rated for both aluminum and copper conductors. They will accept three individual conductors per phase, ranging from 3/0 AWG to 400 kcmil in size.

Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping

Expedited Shipments
