Product FAQs
6 answers
Can the Eaton QC1040 be mounted on a standard 35mm DIN rail?
Yes, but it requires a separate DIN rail adapter kit, such as Eaton part number QCDINADAPT. Out of the box, the breaker is configured for standard panel mounting with feed-thru connections.
What does a feed-thru connection mean for this Quicklag breaker?
A feed-thru, or cable-in/cable-out connection, means the breaker does not plug into or bolt onto a panelboard busbar. It uses box lugs on both the line and load sides for direct wire connections, which is common in control panels and standalone enclosures.
Will the QC1040 fit in a standard residential load center?
No. The QC1040 is a feed-thru breaker designed for control panels, enclosures, and specific Eaton Quicklag panelboards. It will not fit in standard plug-on (Type BR or CH) or bolt-on (Type BAB) residential load centers.
Are Eaton and Cutler-Hammer QC1040 breakers interchangeable?
Yes. Eaton acquired Cutler-Hammer and continues to manufacture the Quicklag QC series. An Eaton QC1040 is an exact, direct replacement for an older Cutler-Hammer branded QC1040.
How does the thermal-magnetic trip unit operate on the QC1040?
The breaker uses a fixed LI (Long-Time, Instantaneous) trip function. The thermal component responds to sustained overloads by heating a bimetallic strip, while the magnetic component responds immediately to high-level short circuits.
Is there a face mounting plate available for the QC1040?
Yes. If your control panel or equipment installation requires a face-mounted accessory, you can use the Eaton QC1FP mounting plate, which is specifically designed for single-pole Quicklag breakers.

My experience was great. I had the item quickly; and it was more reasonably priced than other places I checked. Not having to pay freight was an absolute bonus.
