Built to safeguard 240-volt circuits in areas prone to moisture, this 20A double-pole interrupter monitors for dangerous ground faults. It is an essential component for meeting NEC mandates in modern construction or renovation projects. Installation is straightforward in any Eaton Type BR load center, serving as an exact upgrade for the discontinued GFTCB220. The short-body construction saves gutter space, while the visual trip indicator allows users to quickly identify tripped circuits.

Product FAQs
7 answers
Can the BRN220GF replace older Cutler-Hammer GFCB220 breakers?
Yes, this model is the direct replacement for the legacy GFCB220 and GFTCB220 breakers. It fits perfectly into the same Eaton and Cutler-Hammer Type BR load centers.
Which older panel brands accept Eaton Type BR breakers?
In addition to modern Eaton and Cutler-Hammer panels, Type BR breakers are backward compatible with many older Westinghouse, Challenger, and Bryant enclosures designed for 1-inch plug-on breakers. Always verify the UL listing label on your specific panel before installation.
Is a plug-on neutral load center required for installation?
No. This breaker is equipped with a pigtail neutral wire that connects directly to the panel neutral bar, allowing it to be installed in standard enclosures without a plug-on neutral chassis.
Can this 2-pole GFCI protect a 240V load that lacks a neutral wire?
Yes. For straight 240V loads like certain heaters or pumps, you can connect the two hot wires and leave the breaker load neutral lug empty. The breaker pigtail must still be connected to the panel neutral bar to power the internal ground fault sensing circuitry.
What is the trip threshold for the ground fault protection?
It provides Class A ground fault personnel protection, which is factory calibrated to trip at a 5mA leakage current threshold to meet National Electrical Code (NEC) standards for areas prone to moisture.
Does this breaker provide dual-function AFCI and GFCI protection?
No. This unit provides standard thermal-magnetic overcurrent and ground fault protection (GFCI) only. It does not include arc-fault (AFCI) sensing capabilities.
How do the diagnostic LEDs assist with troubleshooting?
The breaker features built-in LED indicators that blink in specific sequences after a trip event. These diagnostic codes allow electricians to quickly determine if the fault was caused by a ground fault or a standard overcurrent condition.
