Designed to support 30-amp residential or commercial loads, this legacy component ensures continuous electrical safety. It utilizes proven thermal-magnetic trip technology for standard circuit defense. Compatibility is guaranteed for classic Federal Pacific Stab-Lok load centers requiring a full-size, two-inch footprint. If an exact match is unavailable, the UBIF230N acts as a verified replacement.

Product FAQs
6 answers
Is the Federal Pacific NA230 a thick or thin breaker?
The NA230 is part of the NA series, which is a standard thick Stab-Lok breaker. It measures 1 inch per pole, meaning this 2-pole unit requires 2 inches of panel space. It should not be confused with the NC series, which are half-inch thin breakers.
What type of panel accepts the NA230 circuit breaker?
The NA230 is specifically manufactured for legacy Federal Pacific Electric (FPE) Stab-Lok load centers. Due to its proprietary clip design, it will not snap onto the busbars of modern panels like Square D, Siemens, or Eaton.
Is there an aftermarket replacement available for the FPE NA230?
Yes. If an original Federal Pacific breaker is unavailable, Connecticut Electric manufactures a direct aftermarket replacement under the catalog number UBIF230N. This is a newly manufactured 2-pole, thick-style Stab-Lok breaker listed to UL Standard 489.
What wire gauges are supported by the NA230 lugs?
The breaker terminals are designed to accept 14 AWG through 2 AWG wire. When selecting your conductors, refer to NEC requirements for 30A branch circuits to ensure your wire type and gauge meet local codes.
What does the LI trip function on the NA230 indicate?
The LI designation means the breaker provides Long-Time (L) thermal protection against sustained overcurrents, and Instantaneous (I) magnetic protection to clear rapid short-circuit faults.
What safety precautions are necessary when replacing a Stab-Lok breaker?
Federal Pacific Stab-Lok breakers use a plug-on connection that relies entirely on the panel bus and deadfront for retention. Always de-energize the main service before removal, and ensure the new breaker seats fully on the busbars to prevent arcing.
