A reliable drop-in solution for older residential systems, this 30A thermal-magnetic breaker fits classic Federal Pacific Stab-Lok load centers. It provides an exact match for original hardware, eliminating the need for aftermarket adapters or panel upgrades. Featuring a 10kAIC rating at 120/240VAC and standard 1-inch per pole sizing, it seamlessly replaces worn components. If the original is unavailable, the UBIF0130N serves as an approved substitute.
What panels are compatible with the Federal Pacific NA30 circuit breaker?
The NA30 is designed exclusively for use in classic Federal Pacific Electric (FPE) Stab-Lok load centers. It features a plug-on connection that fits the original Stab-Lok bus design and cannot be used in modern panels.
Can I use the NA30 in a standard 1-inch load center like Square D or Siemens?
No. The NA30 features a proprietary Stab-Lok mounting clip that is only compatible with Federal Pacific panels. It will not fit standard 1-inch format panels from other manufacturers.
How does the NA30 breaker install into the panel?
This breaker utilizes the classic Stab-Lok plug-on mounting style. It pushes directly onto the panel bus without the need for mounting screws or aftermarket adapters.
Is there a modern replacement available for the FPE NA30?
Yes. If an original Federal Pacific NA30 is unavailable, the Connecticut Electric UBIF0130N serves as an approved substitute for 30A, 1-pole Stab-Lok applications.
What is the difference between the NA30 and NC30 breakers?
The NA30 is a full-size breaker that requires a 1-inch space in the panel. The NC30 is a thin or half-size breaker that only requires a 1/2-inch space. Check your panel bus configuration to ensure it accepts full-size NA-type breakers.
Does Federal Pacific make a bolt-on version of this 30A breaker?
Yes. While the NA30 is a plug-on Stab-Lok breaker, Federal Pacific also manufactured a bolt-on version known as the NB type for commercial panelboards.
Are Federal Pacific Stab-Lok panels and breakers safe to use?
Federal Pacific Stab-Lok panels have a documented history of failing to trip during overcurrent conditions. While replacement breakers like the NA30 are available to maintain existing systems, many licensed electricians recommend upgrading the entire panel to a modern load center for optimal safety.
