Built for commercial applications, this two-pole 15A component provides reliable thermal-magnetic protection. It serves as an exact match for aging infrastructure requiring specific legacy hardware. Installation requires bolting into classic Federal Pacific NBLP panelboards. Facility managers can utilize this unit as a seamless substitute for UBIF215NB or NB215 without modifying the enclosure. Rated for 10kAIC at 120/240VAC, it features HACR and SWD classifications for switching duty.
Which panelboards accept the Federal Pacific NB221015 circuit breaker?
The NB221015 is a bolt-on breaker engineered specifically for legacy Federal Pacific NBLP commercial panelboards. It will not fit standard stab-in residential load centers.
How is the NB221015 installed into the panel?
This breaker requires a bolt-on connection, meaning it must be mechanically fastened to the panelboard busbars using screws. This ensures a secure, vibration-resistant connection typical in commercial distribution equipment.
What are the known cross-reference replacements for the NB221015?
If the original Federal Pacific NB221015 is unavailable, facility managers can use aftermarket substitutes like the Connecticut Electric UBIF215NB or the NB215, which bolt into the same NBLP panelboards without enclosure modifications.
What wire gauge range is supported by the NB221015 terminals?
The load-side lugs accommodate wire sizes from 14 AWG up to 2 AWG, allowing flexibility for 15-amp branch circuit wiring and voltage drop considerations over long runs.
Is the NB221015 suitable for high-fault commercial systems?
The NB221015 has a maximum interrupting capacity of 10kA at 120/240VAC. It is intended for standard commercial distribution networks and should not be installed in systems where the available fault current exceeds 10,000 amps.
How does the trip mechanism function on the NB221015?
The breaker uses a non-adjustable thermal-magnetic (LI) trip unit. The thermal element provides long-time delay for standard overloads, while the magnetic element trips instantaneously during short-circuit faults.

Hard to find breakers
Had a project at a school built in the 1960’s and thought we were up a creek when confronted with ancient FPE commercial panels. Luckily we found what we needed with Suoerbreakers.
