Product FAQs
6 answersWhich panelboards accept the NEF437070 circuit breaker?
The NEF437070 is a legacy bolt-on molded case circuit breaker designed specifically for installation in Federal Pacific NEF panelboards. It requires the appropriate NEF mounting hardware kit for secure bus connection.
What wire sizes do the factory lugs on the NEF437070 accept?
The standard lugs on this breaker accommodate conductors ranging from 4 AWG to 1/0 AWG. Always torque the terminal connections to the manufacturer specifications to ensure a safe and reliable connection.
Can the NEF437070 be utilized in DC power applications?
Yes, in addition to its standard AC ratings, this breaker is rated for 250VDC applications with a 10kA interrupting capacity. This makes it suitable for specific industrial direct current circuits requiring a 70A overcurrent protection device.
Does the NEF437070 feature an adjustable trip setting?
No, this breaker utilizes a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit. Both the long-time thermal and instantaneous magnetic trip functions are factory-set and cannot be adjusted in the field.
Are there direct replacements for the Federal Pacific NEF437070?
Because Federal Pacific Electric is no longer in business, new OEM replacements are obsolete. Facilities typically rely on sourced original FPE breakers or aftermarket retrofit kits to maintain existing NEF panelboards without replacing the entire electrical infrastructure.
What frame size does the NEF437070 belong to?
This breaker is part of the Federal Pacific N Frame group. It shares the same physical dimensions and mounting requirements as other NEF series breakers, allowing for standardized installation in compatible enclosures.

Superbreakers did a great job for us. We called and asked if the breakers were actually in their possession. Withing 30 minutes they called us back (which is rare these days), and we got our breakers the next morning.
