Product FAQs

7 answers
Which panelboards are compatible with the SKLC3608L4XX circuit breaker?

This bolt-on SK frame breaker is designed specifically for GE Spectra Series panelboards, Spectra switchboards, and motor control centers. It will not fit in standard GE A-Series lighting panels or residential load centers.

Can I use the SKLC3608L4XX to replace an older Spectra 800A breaker with a MicroVersaTrip unit?

Yes. The SKLC3608L4XX shares the exact physical SK frame dimensions and bolt-on mounting requirements as legacy GE breakers equipped with older MicroVersaTrip Plus or PM trip units, making it a direct upgrade.

What coordination advantages does the microEntelliGuard LSIG trip unit provide?

The solid-state microEntelliGuard trip unit features Long-Time, Short-Time, Instantaneous, and Ground Fault functions. This allows precise time-current curve shaping for maximum selectivity in commercial feeders, plus integrated ground fault protection without requiring external relays.

What wire sizes and materials do the included standard lugs accept?

The mechanical lugs accommodate three conductors per phase, accepting 3/0 AWG up to 500 kcmil wire. They are UL rated for both copper and aluminum conductors. Always verify proper torque values on the manufacturer label during termination.

Why might this breaker arrive with either ABB or General Electric branding on the label?

ABB acquired GE Industrial Solutions, meaning Spectra RMS circuit breakers may carry either GE or ABB logos. Regardless of the printed brand, the internal components, SK frame dimensions, and UL listings are completely identical.

How does the basic metering feature function on this specific trip unit?

The integrated basic metering on the microEntelliGuard allows facility managers to monitor phase current and voltage data locally via the trip unit interface. It also supports direct Modbus communications for integration into a broader power management system.

What safety precautions are necessary when configuring the ground fault settings?

Ground fault pickup and delay settings must be configured by a qualified technician during commissioning. Improper settings can lead to nuisance tripping or failure to clear arcing faults, which compromises facility safety and violates NEC requirements.
