The TEY290 is designed specifically for GE A-Series lighting panelboards. It bolts directly onto the panelboard bus and is not compatible with standard load centers or DIN rail systems.
What is the recommended lug tightening torque for the TEY290?
The required torque depends on the wire size being installed. For #4 AWG conductors, torque the lugs to 45 in-lb. For #3 to 1/0 AWG conductors, torque to 50 in-lb.
Will the TEY290 arrive with GE or ABB branding?
Because ABB acquired GE Industrial Solutions, this breaker may be branded as either GE or ABB. Both versions are functionally identical, share the same TEY290 catalog number, and are exact drop-in replacements.
What is the physical width of the TEY290 breaker?
TEY frame circuit breakers measure 1 inch wide per pole. As a 2-pole breaker, the TEY290 has an overall width of 2 inches.
What does the LI trip function code mean for this breaker?
The LI designation indicates that the breaker uses a thermal-magnetic trip unit providing Long-Time (thermal overload) and Instantaneous (magnetic short-circuit) protection. On the TEY290, these trip settings are fixed and cannot be adjusted.
Can the TEY290 be used on a 480V ungrounded delta system?
No. The TEY290 has a slash voltage rating of 277/480VAC. Per the NEC, slash-rated breakers can only be installed on solidly grounded wye systems where the line-to-ground voltage does not exceed 277V. It is not suitable for ungrounded or corner-grounded 480V delta systems.

Expedited Shipments
