6 answersWhat type of panelboard accepts the TEY390 circuit breaker?
This bolt-on breaker is designed for GE and ABB A-Series panelboards. It secures directly to the internal panel bus structure and is not compatible with standard Q-Line residential load centers.
Can this breaker be installed in a 480V Delta electrical system?
No. Because it carries a slash voltage rating of 480Y/277VAC, it is strictly approved for grounded WYE systems where the line-to-ground voltage does not exceed 277V. It cannot be used on ungrounded or corner-grounded Delta configurations.
Are GE TEY390 and ABB TEY390 breakers the same unit?
Yes. Following the acquisition of GE Industrial Solutions by ABB, this breaker line is manufactured under the ABB brand. It retains the exact same physical dimensions, mounting hardware, and electrical ratings as legacy GE models.
Can I use the TEY390 to replace higher-rated TEYD or TEYL breakers?
Only if a fault current analysis confirms that the available short-circuit current is 14 kA or less at 480Y/277V. The TEY390 is the standard-interrupting version. Higher-tier models like the TEYD (25 kA) or TEYL (65 kA) are required for systems with higher fault current potentials.
Is the TEY390 approved for use with HVAC equipment?
Yes, this breaker is HACR rated. This certification verifies it is approved for the branch-circuit protection of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
Is this breaker suitable for reverse feeding?
Yes, TEY series molded case circuit breakers do not have restrictive line or load direction markings and can be safely reverse fed in back-fed main breaker applications.

Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping
We strive to ship out your items the same day the order is placed. In rare circumstances SuperBreakers may reserve up to 5 business days to consolidate orders for complete shipment.
Expedited Shipments
Orders being shipped via Next Day Air, 2 Day Shipping or 3 Day Shipping must be received by 3 PM EST to guarantee same-day shipments. Expedited orders only ship on normal business days. Shipments will NOT be sent out on Saturdays and Sundays.
International Shipping
