This bolt-on TLB2 frame breaker is engineered for installation in GE switchboards, motor control centers (MCCs), and individual enclosures. It is not designed for standard load centers or panelboards that require plug-in or Q-Line breakers.
The TLB234200 features a thermal-magnetic trip unit with a fixed thermal element for long-time overload protection and an adjustable magnetic element for instantaneous short-circuit protection. This adjustability allows electricians to coordinate the breaker with motor inrush currents or specific downstream loads to prevent nuisance tripping.
Yes, the included feed-thru lugs are dual-rated for both copper and aluminum wire from 4 AWG to 300 kcmil. When terminating aluminum conductors, ensure the wire is properly prepped and an approved oxide inhibitor is applied before torquing to the manufacturer specifications.
ABB acquired GE Industrial Solutions in 2018. As a result, newly manufactured TLB234200 breakers may carry the ABB logo. Regardless of the label, the breaker maintains the exact same form, fit, function, and UL listings as the legacy GE-branded units.
The Tri-Break series features an integrally fused design. This provides the TLB234200 with enhanced current-limiting capabilities, allowing it to safely interrupt high fault currents up to 50kA at 480VAC and protect sensitive downstream equipment from severe electrical damage.
