Built for commercial and industrial applications, the Siemens BE130 provides 30A ground fault equipment protection (GFEP). It safeguards machinery from damaging low-level faults without nuisance tripping. This bolt-on breaker mounts into Siemens P1, P2, and P3 panelboards. It serves as a direct replacement for older installations, crossing over to the B130EG substitute. Rated 10 kAIC at 120VAC, it features a 30mA trip sensitivity designed specifically for equipment, not personnel safety.
What is the ground fault trip sensitivity of the Siemens BE130?
The BE130 is a Ground Fault Equipment Protection (GFEP) breaker with a 30mA trip sensitivity. It is designed to protect equipment from damaging line-to-ground faults without the nuisance tripping common with 5mA personnel protection GFCIs.
Can the Siemens BE130 replace older ITE or Gould breakers?
Yes, Siemens acquired the ITE and Gould circuit breaker lines. The BE130 serves as a direct replacement for older ITE and Gould B-frame, 1-pole, 30A bolt-on GFEP breakers.
How does the BE130 connect to the neutral bus?
The BE130 features a pigtail neutral wire that must be connected directly to the panelboard neutral bus to ensure proper ground fault detection and operation.
Is the BE130 suitable for protecting personnel in wet locations?
No. The BE130 is a GFEP breaker with a 30mA trip threshold, intended strictly for equipment protection such as heat trace cables. For personnel protection in areas like bathrooms or pools, a Class A GFCI breaker with a 5mA trip threshold is required by the NEC.
What is the difference between Siemens BE and BL series breakers?
Both share the same physical B-frame size and bolt-on mounting for Siemens P1, P2, and P3 panelboards. However, the BL series provides standard thermal-magnetic protection, while the BE series adds 30mA Ground Fault Equipment Protection (GFEP).
