Product FAQs
8 answers
What type of enclosures or panels is the Siemens CED62B060 compatible with?
This bolt-on breaker is designed for use in Siemens Sentron panelboards and switchboards that are configured to accept ED-frame molded case circuit breakers.
What does the current limiting feature of the CED62B060 do?
As a current limiting breaker, it is designed to clear a fault in less than half a cycle. This significantly reduces the peak let-through current and energy, protecting downstream electrical components from severe thermal and mechanical stress during a short circuit.
How does the CED62B060 differ from standard ED4 or ED6 breakers?
While it shares the same physical footprint as standard ED-frame breakers like the ED4, ED6, or HED4, the CED6 series features a much higher interrupting capacity (200kAIC at 480V) and includes internal current-limiting technology. It is specified where extremely high fault currents are present.
What type of wire can be used with the standard lugs on this breaker?
The factory-installed lugs accept both copper (Cu) and aluminum (Al) conductors ranging from 10 AWG to 1/0 AWG. Ensure you apply the correct torque specifications listed on the breaker label during installation.
Can this breaker be DIN rail mounted?
No, the CED62B060 is a bolt-on molded case circuit breaker. It must be bolted directly to the busbars of a compatible panelboard or switchboard and is not designed for DIN rail or plug-in load center applications.
Is this breaker suitable for direct current (DC) applications?
Yes, in addition to its AC ratings, this thermal-magnetic breaker is rated for use in DC circuits up to 250VDC, providing an interrupting capacity of 30kA. It is commonly used in industrial DC control or battery systems.
Can I use this 2-pole breaker in a 3-phase panel?
Yes, a 2-pole breaker can be installed in a 3-phase panelboard to feed a single-phase load. It will connect to two of the three available bus phases.
Does this breaker provide GFCI or AFCI protection?
No, this model features standard thermal-magnetic trip functions (Long-Time and Instantaneous) for overload and short-circuit protection. It does not include ground fault or arc fault circuit interruption circuitry.
