Engineered for commercial applications, the Siemens NGG2B050L is a 2-pole, 50A MCCB from the Sentron family. It provides long-time and instantaneous (LI) thermal-magnetic protection for systems up to 480VAC. The compact GG frame saves valuable panel space. This unit-mount breaker installs onto DIN rails or base plates without special adapters. It fits Siemens P1, P2, and P3 panelboards. Factory-installed lugs are included. Rated 25kAIC at 480V, it is replaced by the 3VA5150-4EC21-0AA0.
Can the Siemens NGG2B050L be mounted on a DIN rail?
Yes, the NGG frame is designed for integral DIN rail or base mounting without the need for additional adapter plates.
Is the NGG2B050L suitable for reverse feed applications?
Yes, this breaker features a non-interchangeable thermal-magnetic trip unit and is suitable for reverse feed applications according to UL 489 standards.
What is the difference between Siemens NGG and NGB circuit breakers?
Both share the same core design and ratings, but the NGG is configured for unit mounting (DIN rail or base mount) with global markings. The NGB is specifically configured for panelboard mounting applications.
Can the NGG2B050L be used in DC electrical systems?
Yes, this breaker is rated for use on direct current systems with an interrupting capacity of 14kA at 125/250VDC. When used on 250VDC systems, it is typically wired with one pole on each leg of the supply circuit.
Does the NGG2B050L come with lugs installed?
Yes, it includes factory-installed feed-thru lugs that accept 8 to 1/0 AWG copper wire or 8 to 2/0 AWG aluminum wire.
Can the NGG2B050L be installed in Siemens panelboards?
Yes, it is compatible with Siemens P1, P2, and P3 panelboards, as well as switchboards and motor control centers. Because it is a unit mount breaker, specific mounting kits or straps may be required depending on the enclosure.
Does the NGG2B050L provide GFCI or AFCI protection?
No, this is a standard thermal-magnetic circuit breaker providing long-time and instantaneous trip functions. It does not include ground fault or arc fault protection.
What type of trip mechanism does the NGG2B050L use?
It utilizes a fixed thermal and fixed magnetic trip unit with an overcenter toggle mechanism that is trip-free. This prevents the breaker from being held closed by the handle during a fault condition.
