Built to handle higher fault currents, the Siemens Q270H delivers 70 amps of thermal-magnetic protection with an upgraded 22kAIC interrupt rating. It is ideal for residential and commercial applications requiring enhanced short-circuit protection. This QPH series unit installs into Siemens EQ, PL, ES, and Ultimate load centers. It also replaces the discontinued Murray MP270H for panels manufactured after January 2002. The HACR-rated design features common trip and reverse feed capabilities.

Can I install the Q270H in an older Murray load center?
Yes, but only if the Murray load center was manufactured after January 2002. For panels built before that date, you must verify compatibility with the specific panel labeling. It is also fully compatible with Siemens EQ, PL, ES, and Ultimate load centers.
What is the difference between the Siemens Q270 and the Q270H?
The primary difference is the interrupting rating. The standard Q270 (QP series) is rated for 10kAIC, whereas the Q270H (QPH series) features a higher interrupting capacity of 22kAIC at 240V. Always match the AIC rating to your panel requirements.
Is the Siemens Q270H a direct replacement for the ITE Q270H?
Yes. Siemens acquired ITE, and the modern Siemens Q270H serves as the exact, manufacturer-approved replacement for the legacy ITE Q270H circuit breaker.
Is this breaker HACR rated for HVAC equipment?
Yes, Siemens QPH series breakers are HACR rated, meaning they are approved for use with heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment that requires this specific designation.
Does the Q270H include GFCI or AFCI protection?
No, this is a standard thermal-magnetic circuit breaker. It provides overload and short-circuit protection but does not include Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) or Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI) functionality.
How much panel space is required to install this breaker?
The Q270H is a standard 1-inch per pole breaker. Because it is a 2-pole device, it requires two adjacent full-size spaces on the panel bus bar.
Can I use the Q270H in a Square D or GE electrical panel?
No. The Q270H is UL listed exclusively for use in approved Siemens and Murray load centers. Installing it in a competitor panel violates the UL listing and electrical code.
Can I use aluminum wire with the Q270H lugs?
Yes, the lugs are rated for both copper and aluminum conductors. However, you must use a slightly larger gauge for aluminum (8 to 2 AWG) compared to copper (8 to 4 AWG) to safely handle the 70-amp load.
Does the Q270H feature a common trip mechanism?
Yes. As a 2-pole breaker, it has an internal common trip. If an overcurrent or short circuit occurs on either leg of the 240V circuit, both poles will trip simultaneously to completely de-energize the connected equipment.
