Description

Engineered for commercial applications, the Square D FA14040B delivers robust thermal-magnetic protection. This 1-pole, 40A breaker belongs to the legacy F-Frame family. It installs into Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards, featuring a dedicated Phase B connection. This legacy model is officially replaced by the newer PowerPacT B-Frame series (BDA140402). Rated for 18 kAIC at 277VAC, it includes fixed long-time and instantaneous (LI) trip functions and is HACR rated.

What type of panelboard is required for the FA14040B?

This breaker is designed exclusively for Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards. It utilizes an I-Line style plug-in connection on the line side, which mounts directly to the panel bus.

What does the "B" suffix in the FA14040B catalog number signify?

In Square D I-Line single-pole breakers, the suffix indicates the phase connection on the busbar. The "B" means this breaker connects to Phase B. If you need to connect to Phase A or Phase C, you must use catalog numbers FA14040A or FA14040C.

What wire sizes and materials are compatible with the FA14040B lugs?

The load-side lug accepts wire gauges from 14 AWG to 1/0 AWG. It is rated for use with both copper (Cu) and aluminum (Al) conductors.

Is the FA14040B rated for direct current (DC) applications?

Yes, this breaker is suitable for DC systems. It carries a direct current interrupting rating of 10 kAIC at 125VDC.

    Great company

    So far, so good! The circuit breaker was installed along with a new compressor for our church AC, and everything is now working well.
