This unit-mount breaker is designed for Square D enclosures, switchboards, and panelboards that accommodate legacy F-frame breakers. It is not compatible with I-Line or plug-on panelboards.
Is the FAL22040 still manufactured, or has it been replaced?
The legacy FAL F-frame series has been superseded by the modern Square D PowerPact B-frame series. However, the FAL22040 remains available as a direct replacement for existing F-frame installations.
What lug kit is standard for this 40A breaker?
The standard mechanical lug kit for F-frame breakers that accepts 14 to 1/0 AWG copper or 12 to 1/0 AWG aluminum wire is the AL100FA.
Can the FAL22040 be used in DC power systems?
Yes, this breaker is rated for use in DC applications up to 250VDC, where it provides a 5kA interrupting capacity.
Will this breaker fit in a standard QO or Homeline load center?
No. The FAL22040 is a commercial molded case circuit breaker designed for F-frame panelboards and switchboards. It will not fit in residential QO or Homeline load centers.

Expedited Shipments
Orders being shipped via Next Day Air, 2 Day Shipping or 3 Day Shipping must be received by 3 PM EST to guarantee same-day shipments. Expedited orders only ship on normal business days. Shipments will NOT be sent out on Saturdays and Sundays.
International Shipping
