The FAL24060 is a unit-mount (feed-thru) breaker. It mounts directly to a backpan in compatible Square D enclosures, switchboards, and industrial panelboards. It is not a plug-on or bolt-on breaker for standard QO or I-Line lighting panels.
Is the FAL24060 still manufactured, or is there a modern replacement?
The FAL series is a legacy F-frame breaker that has reached its end of commercialization. Schneider Electric recommends the PowerPact B-frame, such as the BDL26060, as the modern replacement. Note that retrofitting may require mounting modifications.
Can the FAL24060 be reverse fed?
Yes. Standard thermal-magnetic breakers without Line and Load markings on the case, like the FAL24060, are suitable for reverse feeding in backfeed applications.
What wire sizes and materials are permitted for the FAL24060 lugs?
The standard lugs accept 14 to 1/0 AWG copper wire, or 12 to 1/0 AWG aluminum wire. Always torque the lugs to the manufacturer specifications printed on the breaker label.
Does the FAL24060 have adjustable trip settings?
No. This breaker features fixed thermal and fixed magnetic trip functions. It does not have adjustable dials to modify the long-time or instantaneous trip curves.
What does the LI trip function code mean on this breaker?
The LI designation indicates that the breaker provides Long-Time (thermal overload) and Instantaneous (magnetic short-circuit) protection. This is the standard protection profile for general-purpose thermal-magnetic breakers.
