The legacy F-Frame series, including the FAL36015, has been obsoleted by Schneider Electric. The designated modern replacement is the PowerPact B-Frame series, specifically catalog number BDL36015. The new B-Frame units maintain a similar footprint to ease retrofitting in existing control panels and switchboards.
Can I install this breaker in an I-Line panelboard?
No. The L in the FAL prefix indicates that the breaker has mechanical lugs on both the line and load ends for unit mounting, also known as a feed-thru connection. For I-Line plug-on panelboards, you must use an FA prefix breaker or a compatible PowerPact I-Line breaker that features a plug-on jaw connection on the line side.
Can the FAL36015 circuit breaker be reverse fed?
Yes. Because it relies on a standard thermal-magnetic trip unit without directional solid-state electronics, the base FAL36015 can be reverse fed. Note that if you are using an add-on Micrologic ground fault module (GFM) with this breaker, the overall assembly cannot be reverse fed.
What replacement lugs are used on the FAL36015, and what wire sizes do they accept?
The standard factory-installed lugs for this 15A breaker are part number AL50FA. These mechanical lugs accept a wire range of 14 AWG to 4 AWG for copper conductors and 12 AWG to 4 AWG for aluminum conductors.
Does the FAL36015 offer adjustable trip settings?
No. This breaker is equipped with a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit, denoted by the LI trip function code. Both the long-time thermal overload and instantaneous magnetic short-circuit protection thresholds are factory-calibrated and non-adjustable.
